This phrase became popular by the Philadelphia 76ers basketball team when the former General Manager, Sam Hinkie, purposely set the team up for failure by trading away players for draft picks and encouraged the team to lose for seasons in order that they can get high draft picks every year and increase their chances of finding a superstar through the draft. You can say that it worked because now they have Ben Simmons and Joel Embiid, who are really good. We’ll see if they can win a championship any time in the nest little while.
In life you can trust the process. The question is whose process are you trusting? God’s or the devil? We are all on a journey through life. What is important to understand that if you are walking with God you can be sure that everything will work out for good for those who love him and are call according to His (God’s) purposes (Romans 8:28). This is the confidence that we have in God and His word, that if we follow his leading, we will end up in a good place. We sometimes don’t see all the good in every situation while we are going through it, but once it’s all said and done we can see How God has orchestrated everything that we went through for His glory.
I have heard some people that are not walking committed with God say that they are on a process as well and think that they can do whatever they want outside of Gods will and still end up ok. God is merciful and full of grace and I don’t know the plans that He may have for those people, but when you are walking out of Gods will you open up yourself for the devil to enter into your life. The devils agenda, as mentioned in John 10:10, is to steal, kill and destroy. He wants to keep you from ever reaching the potential that God has placed in you. If he can distract you with other things in life that would keep you from walking with God then he is winning and you will end up in a wilderness situation never reaching your “promise land.”
Consider the children of Israel when they left Egypt. They ended up wondering in the wilderness for forty years. In Deuteronomy 1:1-3 it is mentioned that the journey was only to last 11 days. The first generation of Israelites that were released from Egypt murmured, complained and rebelled against God. This generation died in the forty year process. The consequence of their actions caused them not to make it into the Promise Land. Remember they knew who God was. They saw God split the red sea and allowed them to cross through the Red Sea on dry land but they did not walk faithfully with Him and obeying what He was instructing them to do. Only two people from that Generation made it into the Promise Land (Joshua and Caleb). Moses, the leader, didn’t even make it in because he disobeyed God by striking the rock instead of speaking to it.
There are so much promises that God has placed in His Word today that we can stand on. He will give us the desires of our heart (Paslm 37:4). He said that no good thing will he withhold from us (Psalm 84:11). He said that with all His heart and soul he wants to bless us and establish us in the land (Jeremiah 32:40-41). So many promises of the Good that God wants to do for us. But yet some people refuse to follow him and they trust their own process.
Trusting your own process is dangerous because you leave yourself open to the attacks from the enemy. If you make the wrong decision just one time, the consequence could last for the rest of your life. The bad decision can even be fatal and you would’ve lived without committing your life to Jesus, and being eternally separated from Him. I’ve worked serving homeless people and talked to them to understand how they got in the situation that they are in. Most of them say that it was just one bad decision. I know someone who got in the wrong relationship with the wrong girl and now they are living with a disease that there is no cure for.
My prayer is that if you read this that you will commit your life to following Jesus. Don’t trust in your own process. Follow Jesus and walk in his covering. God has so many blessing in store you and you can trust Him to deliver it right on time. Don’t be enticed and drawn away by the worlds way of doing life. It may lead you to destruction. Like he bible says, there is a way that seem right to men, but in its end its leads to death. (Proverbs 14:12)
