There is a spiritual principle that I try to keep in the forefront of my mind before I do anything. That principle is to honour God first in all that I do. There are many ways to do this and the blessings that God brings into your life are not quantifiable. I’ve outlined some whys that I honour God in everything that I do.
First of all I make sure that the first portion of my day is dedicated to him. I specifically do this by starting each day with worship and prayer. It sets the course of my day. Helps me to focus on what’s important. I also get things off my mind that may be troubling me so I can get on with my day. Some people think that they don’t have 15-20 minuets to spare in the morning because they are too busy, but my time is too important to spend that time doing something else. The blessing that comes out of this is that God would actually speak back to you. He can also bring calm to your heart if you have something important to do that day.
Another ways that I honour God is with my tithes. A tithe means ten percent (for those who don’t know). This is a spiritual principle that if you honour God first he will take care of everything else. For every dollar of profit I make in every income stream, I ensure that I give God a tithe on that. I give this money through the church where he has planted me. So to break it down further. I make a profit of $3000 in a month, My tithe of $300 would be taken out first and given back to God. If I earned $300,000, then my tithe would be $30,000.
One last way that talk about honouring God is on Sunday. I have a business. I can operate that business every day of the week so that I can make as much money as possible. This may even mean missing church service on Sunday. One of the reasons I go to church is to honour God and worship him with the rest of the congregation. I am willing to set aside one day from working to rest and honour God. This principle of working was displayed in Genesis where God created the world in six days and then He rested on the seventh day. This is so important because there are other things that are more important then working. I understand that some jobs require work on Sunday, and if that’s you, don’t worry, God knows your heart.
Purpose to put God first in all that you do and you will see how he will show up in your life. There has been plenty times where I have chosen to honour God first and He has blessed me so tremendously as a result. As I mentioned at the beginning, you will not be able to quantify the blessings that God will pour into your life. Remember to put God first today and see what happens.
