When you Make a Mistake - Daily Devotional

As long as we have breath in our lungs there is a way that we can come back to God when we make a mistake. Sin separates us from God. But Jesus is the bridge that reconnects us back to him. We should try to live a sinless life but at times we will fall. When it happens it isn’t a surprise to God. I’m fact he already made a way for us to hat back in relationship with Him. Today we are going to go over some verses that we can remember when we sin and fall short of his glory.

Episode Notes & Bible Verses

The Lord upholds all who fall, And raises up all who are bowed down. – Psalms‬ ‭145‬:‭14‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

When we sin, the fastest way to get back into relationship with God is to humble ourselves and repent. We can come to God in prayer, bow our knees and confess our sins. When we humble ourselves and confess our sins he forgives us because of the sacrifice of Jesus and lifts us back up into right standing with Him.

If I ascend into heaven, You are there; If I make my bed in hell, behold, You are there. – Psalms‬ ‭139‬:‭8‬

For a righteous man may fall seven times And rise again, But the wicked shall fall by calamity. – Proverbs‬ ‭24‬:‭16‬‬

There may be times when we are tripped up by the same sin over and over. This is especially the case when you are a new believer but also may happen after years of walking with Christ. The key part to remember with this verse is that when you fall, you don’t stay down.

– I heard it this way. A pig will roll around and feel comfortable in mud but if a sheep falls in mud it would cry out and want to get cleaned off. We are the sheep. It’s not our nature to roll around in mud or sin. And when we fall into sin we can cry out to God to clean us up. –

There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit. – Romans‬ ‭8‬:‭1‬

Without Jesus we would have no hope at all. There would be no way that we could pay the price for our sins. But if you are a believer in Jesus, God says that you stand before him with no condemnation. No guilt and no shame because of your sin.

And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose. – Romans‬ ‭8‬:‭28‬‬

When we are saved we have purpose and destiny. Even if we sin, God can still use it for His glory as part of your testimony. When you have overcome a specific sin and no longer submit to it, God can then use you to help others who struggle with the same thing. This is one way that God can work it out for the good because we love him and are called for His purposes.

My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience. But let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing. – James‬ ‭1‬:‭2‬-‭4‬‬‬

When we repent and come back into relationship with God, we still may feel some guilt for our sin. This is the devil trying to keep you away from God. We can learn from these situations and mature in our Christianity on how to stay connected to God and overcome temptations of the flesh.

If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. – 1 John‬ ‭1‬:‭9

Confession frees us to enjoy a relationship with God. It will free our conscience and remove the guilt. True confession involves a commitment not to continue in sin. But God is faithful to forgive and cleanse us. We should also pray for strength to defeat the temptation the next time we face it.

He has shown you, O man, what is good; And what does the Lord require of you But to do justly, To love mercy, And to walk humbly with your God? – Micah‬ ‭6‬:‭8‬‬

This is what God wants from us. He wants our love and obedience. He is a personal God and expects a personal relationship with us. As we love Gods mercy ((because we need it everyday) we also are merciful to others around us. And this is what God expects from us. To reciprocate the mercy that he has shown us to other people in our lives.
