Exposing Lies People Believe About God - Daily Devotional

The devil is a liar and a thief. He’s been lying and deceiving others from the beginning. I’ve seen the impacts of his lies effect the lives of too many people so today I’m going to expose some common lies the devil tries to spread in society today. My hope is that if you hear the truth today that it will free you from bondage. The truth is based upon His word written in The Bible. I’ve established that the Bible is true in a previous episode and I’ll share the link to that episode on the description of you want to listen to it. So the lies that we are going to discredit is based on the truth of the word of God.

Episode Notes & Bible Verses

God has abandoned me

Keep your life free from love of money, and be content with what you have, for he has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.” – Hebrews 13:5

A father to the fatherless, a defender of widows, is God in his holy dwelling. God sets the lonely in families, he leads out the prisoners with singing; but the rebellious live in a sun-scorched land. – Psalms 68:56

At times you may feel like you have been abandoned but the truth as expressed in these verses is that God will never leave us or forsake us. Even when we put our trust in money, people or ourselves. All will fall short at some time except for God. Trust in God and he will always be there for you. If you are lonely and not even your family is there, God is there to connect with you on a spiritual level. And he is faithful to connect you with people on a relational level who will live you and fill the gap in your life. Considering all this I can confidently say that God will never abandon you.

God caused bad to happen

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. – Jeremiah 29:11

“I will make an everlasting covenant with them: I will never stop doing good to them, and I will inspire them to fear me, so that they will never turn away from me. I will rejoice in doing them good and will assuredly plant them in this land with all my heart and soul. “This is what the Lord says: As I have brought all this great calamity on this people, so I will give them all the prosperity I have promised them. – Jeremiah 32:4042

God loves us and wants the best for us. We often hear the phrase “Acts of God” when it comes to natural disasters but God is love and has good plans for us. These verses give us the promise that He doesn’t plan for bad things to happen to us. These verses actually show the opposite. That He always has good things planned for us. Oftentimes, it’s because of our disobedience which allows sin to slip into our lives and the consequences of that sin is that bad things happen. But God always intends for good things to happen to us. Believe it. Confess it. And expect it.

God doesn’t love me

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. – John 3:1617

What, then, shall we say in response to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all—how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things? – Romans 8:3132

So this is how much God loves you. He loves you and wants a relationship with you so much that he sent his only son Jesus into this world so that he could save us by dying on a cross for our sins. Through Jesus we have access to a relationship with God and we are saved. And if you think at this moment that Hod doesn’t love you because of something you don’t have, just know, since God gave up what was most valuable and precious to him, what’s keeping God from giving you anything else that you need. Know that in Gods perfect timing you will have all that you need.

We are all gods children

For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God. For you did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out, “Abba, Father.” The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God, – Romans 8:1416

It really bothers me when I hear people say this. This is a lie and deception straight from the devil to deceive people into thinking that they don’t need to commit their lives to God. In order to be considered a child of God you have to believe and commit your life to Jesus. We are all Gods creation, but we only become Gods children when we accept Jesus.

There’s are Many Ways to God

Thomas said to Him, “Lord, we do not know where You are going, and how can we know the way?” Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me. – John 14:56

This verse makes it very clear. There is only one way to get to God. That is through Jesus. Every other religion puts an emphasis on works that you have to do to earn your salvation. But there is no way to justify the cost of sin by doing anything in our natural world. This is why Jesus had to die on a cross and reclaim the authority that Adam lost. This is why Faith in Jesus’ finish work on the cross only needs to be believed and confessed by us because God works by faith.

My good works will get me into heaven

For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast. For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them. – Ephesians 2:810

If good works could get you into heaven then we would be able to boast about what we have done and this would make what Jesus did on the cross irrelevant. Also, if it were based on works it would filter out the people who are good that didn’t have an opportunity to do any good works to earn their salvation. But it is Gods grace that has caused us to be saved through the work of Jesus on the cross. All we have to do is confess and believe in what he did for us.

I don’t need to confess the word of God.

Death and life are in the power of the tongue, And those who love it will eat its fruit. – Proverbs 18:21

But what does it say? “The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart” (that is, the word of faith which we preach): that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. – Romans 10:810

The Bible is clear that we need to speak and that we have a lot of power when we use our words. I’m Romans 10 we even see that the principal of salvation is surrounded in confession that Jesus is Lord. The enemy would live to trick you into denying the power that you have when you open your mouth to pray.
