Walking with God Daily - Daily Devotional

As believers we should remember that our relationship with God is the most important thing that we can do. As we fellowship with God it benefits us is so many different ways. Psalms 103:1-2 says “Praise the Lord, my soul; all my inmost being, praise his holy name. Praise the Lord, my soul, and forget not all his benefits—”. Today we’re going to go over why we need to walk with God daily. We can make the verses we go over today part of our daily confession.

Episode Notes & Bible Verses

Our Peace

Now may the Lord of peace himself give you peace at all times in every way. The Lord be with you all. – 2 Thessalonians 3:16

You keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on you, because he trusts in you. – Isaiah 26:3

Peace is one of the most important states that we can have in our lives. We are to protect our peace and pray every day for our peace. These two verses can be used as part of our

Our Safety

The Lord is my strength and my shield; in him my heart trusts, and I am helped; my heart exults, and with my song I give thanks to him. – Psalm 28:7

You are a hiding place for me; you preserve me from trouble; you surround me with shouts of deliverance. Selah – Psalm 32:7

There are so many troubles that we hear every day and we need to start our days confessing Gods protection to keep us safe from all harm and troubles that may come our way. God is faithful to keep his word and keep us safe. His will will always be done.

For Favour

Let the favor of the Lord our God be upon us, and establish the work of our hands upon us; yes, establish the work of our hands! – Psalm 90:17

Surely, LORD, you bless the righteous; you surround them with your favor as with a shield. – Psalms 5:12

Because our days are numbered, we want everything that we do to be as effective and productive as possible. It’s for this reason that we should desire to have Gods favour on our lives so that we can make the most out of whatever we do.

Protection of your Family

I was young and now I am old, yet I have never seen the righteous forsaken or their children begging bread. – Psalm 37:25

So it was, when the days of feasting had run their course, that Job would send and sanctify them, and he would rise early in the morning and offer burnt offerings according to the number of them all. For Job said, “It may be that my sons have sinned and cursed God in their hearts.” Thus Job did regularly. – Job 1:5

Job gave us an excellent example here on how we are to pray for our family members. We should always intercede on their behalf. God is faithful to provide for you and your family. When there is a need you can confess these verses daily and watch God show up to meet that need.

To Save the Lost

Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few; therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest.” – Matthew 9:37-38

Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” – Matthew 28:1820

This is the great commission. We are saved so that we can bring others to come and know Jesus. As we walk with God daily we can rely on his Holy Spirit to direct us who we can talk to and share the good news of the Gospel with.

To Grow in Christ

Therefore, dear friends, since you have been forewarned, be on your guard so that you may not be carried away by the error of the lawless and fall from your secure position. But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and forever! Amen. – 2 Peter 3:1718

We have much to say about this, but it is hard to make it clear to you because you no longer try to understand. In fact, though by this time you ought to be teachers, you need someone to teach you the elementary truths of God’s word all over again. You need milk, not solid food! Anyone who lives on milk, being still an infant, is not acquainted with the teaching about righteousness. But solid food is for the mature, who by constant use have trained themselves to distinguish good from evil. – Hebrews 5:1114

Everything that is living has to grow. If it doesn’t grow then it will die and not be useful. The same is true with our spiritual lives. As we walk with Christ we are to study, grow and learn so that we can be more useful in this world for Gods glory. Walking with God daily causes you to grow. And you walk with God daily by reading your Bible, worshiping and spending devotional prayer time daily.

Relationship

On one occasion an expert in the law stood up to test Jesus. “Teacher,” he asked, “what must I do to inherit eternal life?” “What is written in the Law?” he replied. “How do you read it?” He answered, “ ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind’; and, ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’” – Luke 10:2527

He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God. – Micah 6:8

We all want to hear “well done though good and faithful servant” when we reach to heaven. Walking with God daily and developing a close relationship with him while we are on earth is one of the best ways that we can ensure that we do. We are encouraged to love god with all our soul, which meant to think about Godly things. With all our heart, which means passionately love God. With all your strength, which means to serve others with our lives for Gods name sake. And to love our neighbours which means to look out for the people around you and how you can help them. Doing this will help us have a closer relationship with God.
