The Lord makes firm the steps of the one who delights in him; though he may stumble, he will not fall, for the Lord upholds him with his hand. – Psalms 37:23–24
The person that God delights in is someone who follows, trust God and tries to do his will. God watches over that person and makes every step that person takes firm. Seek Gods direction concerning you employment and he will make your plans firm. He may be leading you to your dream job or moving the situations where you are now to help you to prosper in your current job.
Whether you turn to the right or to the left, your ears will hear a voice behind you, saying, “This is the way; walk in it.” – Isaiah 30:21
When the Lord gives you direction we are to walk by faith. As we take our first steps in that direction, He will confirm the way that we should take. When you pray concerning your employment, listen to how God will direct you and take the first steps by faith.
Blessed is the one who does not walk in step with the wicked or stand in the way that sinners take or sit in the company of mockers, but whose delight is in the law of the Lord, and who meditates on his law day and night. That person is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither— whatever they do prospers. – Psalms 1:1–3
The blessed person is like a tree planted beside flowing streams. Such trees are not easily swayed; they hold their ground and bear fruit in its season. This indicates that the blessed person is productive, maximizing their potential and utilizing opportunities when they present themselves. As you work, do so to the best of your ability and when opportunities come up, give your best effort and Gods favour will be on you.
No one from the east or the west or from the desert can exalt themselves. It is God who judges: He brings one down, he exalts another. – Psalms 75:6–7
When the time comes, it’s God that will promote you to that next position. He will open the position and it will be a perfect fit for you.
For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do. – Ephesians 2:10
Know that God created us with a purpose in mind. There are specific gifts and abilities that we have that are key in knowing what work we should do during the course of our lives. It’s in us and we need to pray and follow Gods leading every day.
To one he gave five bags of gold, to another two bags, and to another one bag, each according to his ability. Then he went on his journey. – Matthew 25:15
This is one of my life verses. God has given all of us ability to do something and it’s our responsibility to use and develop our abilities to work and our increase. When we are faithful with what we have, more will be entrusted to us. As you are working use your ability well and be diligent so that God will consider you faithful and entrust you more.
But remember the Lord your God, for it is he who gives you the ability to produce wealth, and so confirms his covenant, which he swore to your ancestors, as it is today. – Deuteronomy 8:18
God doesn’t give us wealth just so we can lavish it on ourselves. It looks a directly connected to the advancement of Gods kingdom agenda. So as you work or seek better employment, think on how your work can help advance the Gods kingdom.
