Mary responded, “I am the Lord’s servant. May everything you have said about me come true.” And then the angel left her. – Luke 1:38

When totally surrendering to Gods will it’s impossible not to think about the repercussions that might come your way. Mary was not married to Joseph yet and probably thought about how being pregnant with Jesus would make her look to her fiancé and her community. Nonetheless, she surrendered and said “let Gods will be done”. Lesson is, don’t let the opinion of others stop you from submitting and surrendering to Gods will.

This letter is from Paul, a slave of Christ Jesus, chosen by God to be an apostle and sent out to preach his Good News. – Romans 1:1

Paul’s perspective shows that he fully accepted God working through him and he totally surrendered to the point that he thought of himself as a slave to Christ. He went on to write about 2/3 of the New Testament. Question that we need to ask ourselves is, are we slaves to Christ? Can Jesus work through us wherever He takes us?

Some time later, God tested Abraham’s faith. “Abraham!” God called. “Yes,” he replied. “Here I am.” “Take your son, your only son—yes, Isaac, whom you love so much—and go to the land of Moriah. Go and sacrifice him as a burnt offering on one of the mountains, which I will show you.” The next morning Abraham got up early. He saddled his donkey and took two of his servants with him, along with his son, Isaac. Then he chopped wood for a fire for a burnt offering and set out for the place God had told him about. – Genesis 22:1-3

Abraham was willing to give up what he prayed from and waited a long time for.

If God came to you and directed you to sacrifice something that you hold near to your heart. Would you, in an act of total surrender to God, give up that thing for God?

Then Jesus told his disciples, “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me. – Matthew 16:24

This is the call that every Christian has to go through. We have to say no to ourselves and what we want to do in order to experience the lordship and provision of Christ on earth.

For whoever would save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake will find it. – Matthew 16:25

This sounds counter intuitive but Gods ways are higher than the ways of the world. When you totally identify with Jesus and live according to his agenda, you will find abundant life. This only comes when you totally surrender your will to Gods will.

“And so, dear brothers and sisters, I plead with you to give your bodies to God because of all he has done for you. Let them be a living and holy sacrifice—the kind he will find acceptable. This is truly the way to worship him. Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.” – Romans 12:1-2

These verses speaks about total surrender. Not only with our physical bodies and what we do. But also how we think. God wants us to be transformed in our thinking by reading the Word of God. This total surrender. And this has a promise that we will find Gods good perfect and pleasing will for our lives.

Then Jesus left them a second time and prayed, “My Father! If this cup cannot be taken away unless I drink it, your will be done. – Matthew 26:42

This is the ultimate example of total surrender. As believers we know that Jesus died for us. Knowing that he had do it, he prayed and asked the father if it can be taken away. But at the end of his prayer he said “your will be done”. And as a result all human kind had an opportunity to be in a relationship with God and have eternal life. Lesson here is, the bigger the challenge is for you to surrender, the bigger the blessing will be on the other side.
