For which of you, desiring to build a tower, does not first sit down and count the cost, whether he has enough to complete it? – Luke 14:28

Before you start to build anything you have to evaluate how much it’s going to cost you.  Not only financially but also in time.   A business I no different.  You want to know how much the start up cost will be. But you also have to consider if the business will cost you time away from family, church or take away from your devotional time with God.

Unless the Lord builds the house, those who build it labor in vain. Unless the Lord watches over the city, the watchman stays awake in vain. – Psalm 127:1 ESV

One of the most important things you do before you start to build your business is to make sure that God is leading you.  If you are trying to do something that is outside of God’s will for you, you most likely will come across some frustration and resistance in your spirit about it.

You shall remember the Lord your God, for it is he who gives you power to get wealth, that he may confirm his covenant that he swore to your fathers, as it is this day. – Deuteronomy 8:18

In all that you are able to accomplish in your business, remember that your ability comes from God.  He is the one who gave you the idea and strengthens you to have good success and become wealthy in your business. All of our skills and special talents that we use in our businesses are all given to us by God. He gives us the ability to make money and cut deals. He did it for our parents and mentors and he does it for us too.  This is to keep the covenant that he made.

“Everyone then who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock. And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house, but it did not fall, because it had been founded on the rock. And everyone who hears these words of mine and does not do them will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand. And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell, and great was the fall of it.” – Matthew 7:24-27

It’s important to be observant to all the principles that God has laid out for us in his word.  When starting a business we need to especially be observant so that we can do all that is written in His word.  This is so we can have good success and that our business is planted on firm ground. 

Thus says the Lord: “Let not the wise man boast in his wisdom, let not the mighty man boast in his might, let not the rich man boast in his riches, but let him who boasts boast in this, that he understands and knows me, that I am the Lord who practices steadfast love, justice, and righteousness in the earth. For in these things I delight, declares the Lord.” – Jeremiah 9:23-24

As God blesses your business and you start to see some good profits, remember to remain humble and not allow pride to get you to think that you caused all your success on our own.  God can be very well testing you to see if you will return and give God glory for all that he had done in your business.

For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline. – 2 Timothy 1:7

Starting a business can be a fearful experience because you are venturing out into the unknown.  Renturing out into the unknown.  full experience because youare d can be very well testing you to see if you will return and givemember that if God is directing you, that if requires faith on your part to move forward.  You have power over spiritual enemies that try to block your god given business.  You are to be motivated by love for what you are doing and the people that it serves.  Finally, you have a self-disciplined mind that can think of creative solutions to overcome any problems in your business.

“Ship your grain across the sea; after many days you may receive a return. Invest in seven ventures, yes, in eight; you do not know what disaster may come upon the land. – Ecclesiastes 11:1-2

And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work. – 2 Corinthians 9:8
