Episode Notes & Bible Verses

For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.  – Ephesians 2:10

The truth is that before you were born God prepared a great life for you.  He designed every aspect for you to experience it.  Out of His amazing love He designed great works for you to do and called you to be born on a specific day in time for you to start your work on this earth.   Along with work that He prepared you to do, He is such a loving God that He also prepared moments of fun and joyful recreation for you to enjoy as well.

For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. – Jeremiah 29:11 NIV

This lets you know that God is on side with blessing you with good things in this life.  People are sometimes blaming God when things go wrong in their lives and they say things like “they were dealt a bad hand in life”  But the truth is that God has good things in store for you and plans to give you a bright future as mentioned in this verse.

“For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place, when I was woven together in the depths of the earth. Your eyes saw my unformed body; all the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be.” Psalms 139:13-16 NIV

There is no part of you that God is not aware of.  There is no habit or joyful passion that you have that God didn’t put in you before you were born.  Some people have a great passion to work on cars and fix things.  Other people can sit quietly and read a good book for hours.  All of these characteristics about you God put there and they all work together to make you who you are… And to top it off there is no mistakes with you.  You are wonderfully and fearfully made in God’s image and likeness.

For he will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways; they will lift you up in their hands, so that you will not strike your foot against a stone. You will tread on the lion and the cobra; you will trample the great lion and the serpent. “Because he loves me,” says the Lord, “I will rescue him; I will protect him, for he acknowledges my name. He will call on me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble, I will deliver him and honor him. With long life I will satisfy him and show him my salvation.” – Psalms 91:11-16 NIV

One of the functions of angles is to watch over believers.  These verse show how much God has invested in your safety and it is comforting to know that God watches over us, even in times of great stress and fear.  Know also that God gives you a promise that He will bless you with long life.

From birth I have relied on you; you brought me forth from my mother’s womb. I will ever praise you. – Psalm 71:6

The birthing process is full of risk but if you are alive right now to hear this just know that God has been with you from before you were born and up until right now and will be with you in the future.  So on your birthday, it is right to celebrate that God was called you to the earth on that day and kept you to see another year of life.

Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations. – Jeremiah 1:5

If you think that you don’t have a purpose or reason to be alive, let this verse sink into your heart.  God knew you before you were born and made you for a specific purpose.  Like Jeremiah here, you too were set apart and appointed to do something great in this world… And that is why you were born.

Dear friend, I pray that you may enjoy good health and that all may go well with you, even as your soul is getting along well. – 3 John 1:2

As you get older, this is a verse that you can declare over yourself.  As you continue to grow in the knowledge of God and deepen your relationship with Him, He will allow you to enjoy good health and prosper in every area of your life.

May he give you the desire of your heart and make all your plans succeed. – Psalm 20:4

As you celebrate your birthday, may God bless you with every desire of your heart.   But just remember that this verse is not saying that you will get everything that you want… But the desires that are in line with His will for your life.  This doesn’t only mean desires concerning serving His kingdom, but also desires that God wants to give you to enjoy.

For through wisdom your days will be many, and years will be added to your life. –  Proverbs 9:11

So that we can see many more days on earth, the key is to apply wisdom to everything that we do.  Wisdom is applying the knowledge that we have acquired over the years and knowing when to apply it.  This verse is a something that you can declare over yourself that you will become wiser as you get older.

Teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom. – Psalm 90:12

Realizing that life is short helps us use the little time we have more wisely and for eternal good.  As you celebrate your birthday and start another year of life, ask yourself, what do I want to see happen in my life before I die?  What step can I take toward that purpose today?
