Episode Notes & Bible Verses

Then God said, “Let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness, so that they may rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky, over the livestock and all the wild animals, and over all the creatures that move along the ground.” – Genesis 1:26-27

We are made in Gods image and likeness. We are reflections of Gods glory. We have the ability to reflect Gods character in our love, patience, kindness and faithfulness. And since we are made in his image and share some characteristics that he has, it should provide a solid basis for our self worth. Knowing that you are a person of worth helps you love God, know him personally and makes a valuable contribution to those around you.

For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. – Psalms 139:13-14

We are a work of art that God put together by his own hand.  We are wonderfully made no matter the circumstances of our conception.  Our existence is no mistake because God makes no mistakes. We are created in the image of God as I mentioned in Gen 1:26-27 with purpose and meaning.   This truth should fill us with self-worth and self-esteem.

For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God not by works, so that no one can boast. For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do. – Ephesians 2:8-10

God knew us before we were even conceived in our mothers womb and he has chosen us to do good works for his kingdom. So even though we would sin and fall short of his glory, God still chose us and desires to do good works in and through us. We are individual and original creations.  There are no two people who are alike.

But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far away have been brought near by the blood of Christ. – Ephesians 2:13

Sin is something that God despises.  Sin separated us from God and it hurt him so much that he made a way for us to be reconciled back into relationship with Him.

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. – John 3:16

One way to determine how much someone loves you is to see what they are willing to give up for you. Here God showed the ultimate sacrifice for us in his only Son Jesus because he loved us that much. This should speak to you about how much God values us.

You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven. – Matthew 5:15-16

God has placed us in our communities so that we can while his light to others. He wants us to be a light so that other people around us can find the way back to him. He has blessed us with gift, talents and our personalities to do this. We are one of a kind and specifically made to impact the world around us.

You, dear children, are from God and have overcome them, because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world. – 1 John 4:4

How awesome it is to know that the greater one lives in you. The very spirit of God and his word is in our hearts and empowers us power to overcome every plan and assignment of the enemy. That all this power and ability, God decided to make it available to us.

Which of you, if your son asks for bread, will give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a snake? If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him! – Matthew 7:9-11

God knows everything that you need. Even before you ask him. This is how precious we are to him. Whatever we need we can come to the Heavenly Father and ask him for it. He is faithful to answer because he’s our good Father.
