The Love of the Heavenly Father
The love of God is in the centre of everything in the bible and when you study out every book of the bible you will see it’s a giant love story that God is trying to tell us. God is not angry or constantly looking down to try and inflict pain and judgement on us. He is looking down from heaven with eyes of love and trying to get us to see that He loves us more than we know.

God knows everything about you.
Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? Yet not one of them will fall to the ground apart from the will of your Father. And even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. So don’t be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows. – Matthew 10:29-31
Jesus said that God is aware of everything that happens sparrows and you are far more valuable than sparrows. Because God places such value on you, you need to never fear that you are alone in the world or that God is out to harm you. He LOVES you.
God knows all the days of your life even before you were born.
My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place. When I was woven together in the depths of the earth, your eyes saw my unformed body. All the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be. – Psalm 139:15-16
God knows every intimate detail about your entire life before you were born. God planned you to be born on a specific day and knows exactly what you would be like when you are older. Everything about you, your gender, personality, character tendencies and habits (good or bad) God knew about them before you were born… and he still loves you.
Gods desire is to Love us.
How great is the love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are! – 1 John 3:1
As believers our self-worth is based on the fact that God loves us and calls us his children. Knowing that we are his children should encourage us to live for Jesus. The love that God has showed us was poured out in abundant measure towards us. I believe that we cant even understand how deep the love that He has for us is.
God wants to meet all your needs
So do not worry, saying, What shall we eat or What shall we drink or What shall we wear? For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. – Matthew 6:31-33
God wants to meet all of your needs but His gifts that he has for you are so good they may rival your love for him. In order for him to pour out all the good things that he has for you he has to ensure that you seek him first and that those good gifts wont turn into idols in your life. This is one of the reasons why he says to seek first the Kingdom of God.
God has great things that he wants to show you.
Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know. – Jeremiah 33:3
God assured Jeremiah that he had only to call to God and God would answer. God is ready to answer our prayers as well but we must ask. When we are asking him in prayer we are developing a deep intimate relationship with him. In doing that we draw closer and deeper in love with God.
God wants to give you the desires of your heart
Delight yourself in the LORD and he will give you the desires of your heart. – Psalms 37:4
This verse isn’t a blank cheque that you can cash in for anything. But this verse is saying that as you spend intimate time in God’s presence, your desires will be more in line with what he wants for your life. Both the spiritual things and other pleasures that He wants you to experience to enjoy live.
He cares for you like a shepherd cares for his sheep
He tends his flock like a shepherd: He gathers the lambs in his arms and carries them close to his heart; he gently leads those that have young. – Isaiah 40:11
God is often pictured as a shepherd, gently caring for and guiding his sheep. He is powerful, yet careful and gentle. This is also how he wants to guide, protect and care for you everyday.
He’s ready to accept you back at any time with open arms
“But the father said to his servants, ‘Quick! Bring the best robe and put it on him. Put a ring on his finger and sandals on his feet. Bring the fattened calf and kill it. Let’s have a feast and celebrate. For this son of mine was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found.’ So they began to celebrate. – Luke 15:22- 24
The prodigal son messed up and did everything that his father didn’t want him to do. Eventually he came to an understanding that he needed to go back home to his father. While he wasn’t expecting the reception that he got, His father decided to celebrate his return and not judge him for the wrong that he did. This is Gods love for you wherever you are or whatever you done. It doesn’t matter. All you need to do is come back home to God. Gods great love reaches out and finds sinners no matter why or how they got lost and there is no condemnation.
God showed his love for us in his sacrifice for us.
For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. – John 3:16
The entire gospel come to a focus in this verse. Gods love is not static or self-centered. It reaches out and draws others in. Here Gods sets the pattern of true love, the basis for all love relationships. When you love someone dearly, you are willing to give to them freely and sacrificially. This is the love that God has for you. That he gave up his only son for you.
