God didn’t create us to be alone. Look in Genesis when Adam was created. God said it wasn’t good for man to be alone. Episode Notes & Bible Verses
Then the Lord God said, “It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper who is just right for him.” – Genesis 2:18 NLT
God himself said that it was not good for man to be alone and the context of this verse was is related to marriage. The amplified version of this verse makes it very clear what this person should be like. They should suitable, adapted, complementary to what the man is doing. So in this context, if you are looking for a life partner, make sure they are suitable, adapted and complementary to you.
“Two people are better off than one, for they can help each other succeed. If one person falls, the other can reach out and help. But someone who falls alone is in real trouble. Likewise, two people lying close together can keep each other warm. But how can one be warm alone? A person standing alone can be attacked and defeated, but two can stand back-to-back and conquer. Three are even better, for a triple-braided cord is not easily broken.”
Ecclesiastes 4:9–12 NLT
It’s better not to be alone. It’s best to have someone walking beside you who cares. Also, there’s obvious power in numbers so ensure you stay connected to community.
Iron sharpens iron, and one man sharpens another. – Proverbs 27:17
We can be “sharpen” by association with other godly people. And a meeting of the minds can help people see their ideas with new clarity and insight. This is why it’s important to bounce your ideas off others. Especially those who are more mature than you or have accomplish what you are trying to do.
“Yes, the body has many different parts, not just one part. If the foot says, “I am not a part of the body because I am not a hand,” that does not make it any less a part of the body. And if the ear says, “I am not part of the body because I am not an eye,” would that make it any less a part of the body? If the whole body were an eye, how would you hear? Or if your whole body were an ear, how would you smell anything? But our bodies have many parts, and God has put each part just where he wants it. – 1 Corinthians 12:14–18
Using the analogy of the body, Paul emphasizes the importance of each church member. If one part is taken away then the whole body suffers. This is why we are all needed to work as one with each other. The entire body of Christ needs you. Your church body needs you. Your family needs you. Your business or work needs you. We each have our own unique ability and we are made to walk in that ability.
“I also tell you this: If two of you agree here on earth concerning anything you ask, my Father in heaven will do it for you. For where two or three gather together as my followers, I am there among them.” – Matthew 18:19–20
Jesus explains here the power of agreement in prayer. Two or more believers, filled with the Holy Spirit will pray according to Gods will and not their own is powerful.
And he called his twelve disciples together and began sending them out two by two, giving them authority to cast out evil spirits. – Mark 6:7 NLT
Jesus asked the disciples to go out in pairs for the power of agreement. As I just explained from Matthew 18. Two are better – stronger; more powerful – than one. Also, two witnesses are better than one. And Jesus may have been thinking of the power of shared ministry, the added impact when two or more people share the testimony of Jesus it would be more impactful.
Plans go wrong for lack of advice; many advisers bring success. – Proverbs 15:22 NLT
People with tunnel vision are likely to miss the right road because they have closed their minds to new options. This is why it’s good to partner with others, or as this verse says have many advisors, so that you increase your chances of being successful.
