Our Identity in Christ – Part 2

Our relationship with God and our entire Christian lives is all hinged on what we know and believe about our identity in Christ.  If we have a distorted view of who we are it can hinder our ability to approach God in prayer, limit our faith and diminish our spiritual growth.  Knowing our identity in Christ is very important and that’s what we are going to talk about today. We are one in Christ with all other believers – Galatians 3:28

There is no longer Jew or Gentile, slave or free, male and female. For you are all one in Christ Jesus.

Faith in Christ transcends all cultural, gender, or status differences that are in the church and makes all believers one in Christ. Because all believers are his heirs, no one is more privileged than or superior to anyone else.

We are blessed with every spiritual blessing in Christ – Ephesians 1:3

All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly realms because we are united with Christ.

This means that in Christ we have all the benefits of knowing God. The term “heavenly places” means that his blessings are eternal and we have an intimate relationship with Christ, we can enjoy these blessings now.

We have been given fullness in n Christ. – Colossians 2:10

So you also are complete through your union with Christ, who is the head over every ruler and authority.

Christ alone holds the answer to the true meaning of life, because he is life. Christ is the unique source of knowledge and power for the Christian life. We are complete in him and need nothing else in addition to him to be saved.

We are holy, blameless, and covered with God’s Love – Ephesians 1:3-4

All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly realms because we are united with Christ. Even before he made the world, God loved us and chose us in Christ to be holy and without fault in his eyes

Sometimes it’s hard to understand how God could accept us but because of Christ, we are holy and blameless in His sight. God chose us and when we belong to Him through Jesus Christ, God looks at us as if we had never sinned. All we can do is express our thanks for his wonderful love.

We are members of Christ’s body, the church – Ephesians 5:29-30

No one hates his own body but feeds and cares for it, just as Christ cares for the church. 30 And we are members of his body.

Just as we would care for our selves, and how men should treat their wives as they do themselves, so to does Jesus care and takes care of us because we are part of the church and one in body in him.

We have been raised up to sit with Christ in glory – Ephesians 2:6

For he raised us from the dead along with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms because we are united with Christ Jesus.

Because of Christ’s resurrection we have been given the power to live as Christians now because we are seated with Him we n heavenly places which speaks to the authority we have. Our eternal life with Christ is certain because we are united in his powerful victory.
