Episode Notes & Bible Verses
Brothers, I do not consider that I have made it my own. But one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus. – Philippians 3:13-14
To become an excellent Christian and to fill your kingdom purpose, you must have a short memory and a clear direction. You’ve got to let go of your successes your failures and ways others have hurt you. The way to get over yesterday is to have a forward focus to press on. Look to the future and not the past.
Jesus said to him, “No one who puts his hand to the plow and looks back is fit for the kingdom of God. – Luke 9:62 ESV
If you want to do great things for God in 2021 you have to get off the fence and make it happen. Follow Jesus as he directs you 100%.
Remember not the former things, nor consider the things of old. Behold, I am doing a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it? I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert. – Isaiah 43:18-19 ESV
This section pictures a new exodus for a people once again oppressed, as the Israelites had been as slaves in Egypt before the exodus. They would cry to God and again he would hear and deliver them. A new exitus would take place through a new wilderness. The past miracles were nothing compared to what God would do for his people in the future. This is how we need to look at crossing into 2021.
but the people that do know their God shall be strong, and do exploits. – Daniel 11:32b KJV
As you go into 2021, you focus should be on getting closer to God to hear his direction and know his ways. As you do this you will see that God will be able to do mighty exploits through you this year. And through these exploits you will give glory to God.
Then the Lord rained upon Sodom and upon Gomorrah brimstone and fire from the Lord out of heaven; And he overthrew those cities, and all the plain, and all the inhabitants of the cities, and that which grew upon the ground. But his wife looked back from behind him, and she became a pillar of salt. – Genesis 19:24-26 KJV
This passage serves as a reminder to us no to become a prisoner of the past. Looking back will only slow you down and take your focus off of what God wants to do in your life in the future. Regardless of how bad 2020 was or who hurt you, look forward to what to what God wants to do through you in 2021.
No one serving as a soldier gets entangled in civilian affairs, but rather tries to please his commanding officer. – 2 Timothy 2:4 NIV
As you go into 2021, start the year with precision focus on the things of God. If there is anything that you have done in the past that is counter productive to Gods kingdom, let it go. Don’t be tied up in things of this world and watch how God will show up strong in your life for 2021.
For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope. – Jeremiah 29:11 ESV
God always has good things in store for you. Regardless of the year Gods love is always working in your favour. That is why you can pray this verse over yourself and your household everyday.
You crown the year with your bounty, and your carts overflow with abundance. – Psalms 65:11 NIV
I’m praying this promise over my year and you can do the same. That God will crown the year with abundance and that we will have an overflow to be a blessing to the Kingdom of God and others who need it.
Do not be misled: “Bad company corrupts good character. – 1 Corinthians 15:33 NIV
Going into 2021, see if there are any people who you need to distance yourself from that we’re bad influences in 2020. This will be critical in determining how much God can do through you in this new year.
Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything. – James 1:2-4 NIV
If you had made it through tough times in 2020, I hope that you learned and matured through those circumstances. Being able to learn through tough times is what allows you to mature. Take time to reflect and see what you have learned through 2020. It’s only when you mature that God can trust you with bigger and better things. Look forward to this in 2021.
