Handing Things Over to God - Daily Devotional
It’s hard for some of us to confess but most of us are control freaks. We just want to be the one who determines the outcome of every situation. The more a grow and go through situations the more I realize that we need to hand things over to God and allow him to have his way. He is the only one who has ultimate control over everything. 1 Peter 5:7 says “Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you.” We need to learn how to do this in every situation that we face. So today we will talk about handing things over to God. We hand things over to Gods hand through prayer and meditation on the promises concerning it. Also we need to avoid thinking about it negatively. So today we are jumping into some areas that we need to commit to god and stand on his promises.

Episode Notes & Bible Verses
Our Children
Once I was young, and now I am old. Yet I have never seen the godly abandoned or their children begging for bread. – Psalms 37:25
Evil people will surely be punished, but the children of the godly will go free. – Proverbs 11:21
As a parent myself one of the biggest things I’ve had to learn is handing my child over to Gods watchful hand. If you have a baby and they get the sniffles or get sick, we have to know how to trust that God will make them well again. Also as your kids go off to daycare or kindergarten, we will not always be around our kids to watch over everything they do but we have to learn how to trust God to watch over them when we are not around. And this just continues as your children continue to grow up. Pray these verses and place your children into Gods watchful hand when you are not able to be around them yourself. He is faithful to keep them.
Our Future
For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope. – Jeremiah 29:11
The Lord is my light and my salvation— so why should I be afraid? The Lord is my fortress, protecting me from danger, so why should I tremble? – Psalms 27:1
The thief’s purpose is to steal and kill and destroy. My purpose is to give them a rich and satisfying life. – John 10:10
As believers we shouldn’t be reading the horoscope or going to see what a physic says our future will be. Those things are demonic. We have the word of God that we can read and know what God plans our future to be. We can trust and stand on these verses that whatever God promised will come to pass. And he is faithful to turn any situation around for good.
Our Safety & Direction
Those who live in the shelter of the Most High will find rest in the shadow of the Almighty. This I declare about the Lord: He alone is my refuge, my place of safety; he is my God, and I trust him. – Psalms 91:1-2
The Lord directs the steps of the godly. He delights in every detail of their lives. Though they stumble, they will never fall, for the Lord holds them by the hand. – Psalms 37:23–24
Your word is a lamp to guide my feet and a light for my path. – Psalms 119:105
Our lives can change in a moments notice in any direction. We can be living comfortably and then something bad can happen to cause us to go through a season of struggle. Or we can be living just above the poverty line and then one situation can cause you to move into a position of financial peace and abundance. Only God knows our future. What our prayer everyday should be these verses that I just mentioned and commit our days and our future into Gods hands. He is a good father and we have his promises in his word to keep us everyday.
Our Health
Dear friend, I pray that you may enjoy good health and that all may go well with you, even as your soul is getting along well. – 3 John 1:2
He said, “If you listen carefully to the Lord your God and do what is right in his eyes, if you pay attention to his commands and keep all his decrees, I will not bring on you any of the diseases I brought on the Egyptians, for I am the Lord, who heals you.” – Exodus 15:26
How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power. He went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with him. – Acts 10:38
These are verses that I use to commit my health over into Gods hands. These verses say that our health is tied to how we feed our spirit spiritual things. It’s also tied to our obedience to Gods word. If a situation comes up where we are in need of healing from a health issue we can call on Jesus and he will heal us from all oppressive sickness. So after we have done our part we can hand over our health into Gods hands and he will make us well. His will will always be done and it will be to our benefit and for His glory.
Our Daily Needs
“Keep on asking, and you will receive what you ask for. Keep on seeking, and you will find. Keep on knocking, and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks, receives. Everyone who seeks, finds. And to everyone who knocks, the door will be opened. “You parents—if your children ask for a loaf of bread, do you give them a stone instead? Or if they ask for a fish, do you give them a snake? Of course not! So if you sinful people know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give good gifts to those who ask him. – Matthew 7:7–11
But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own. – Matthew 6:33–34
We can stand on this promise that God will provide everything we need but we have to ask. God is a good father and promises that He will give us what we ask for. As we continue to see his kingdom and it’s righteousness, God promises that we will give us everything we need as well. So we can pray these verses and commit our daily needs into Gods hands and know that God will provide.
