So do not throw away your confidence; it will be richly rewarded. You need to persevere so that when you have done the will of God, you will receive what he has promised. – Hebrews 10:35-36
The word confidence here can be substituted for the word faith. Do not throw away your faith in the answer to what you are trying to accomplish. It may seem like God is moving slowly but you need to persevere and complete the will of God and in the right time you will see the promise of God fulfilled.
Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. – Galations 6:9
Sometimes when you are serving others and doing good, it may feel like a thankless job but this verse gives us a promise that we will receive a harvest if we do not give up. Think of it as if you are making a deposit into your heavenly bank account every time you do good and serve other people. God will allow you to make a withdraw in the appointed time.
Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize? Run in such a way as to get the prize. – 1 Corinthians 9:24
This verse speaks to being excellent or the best at what you do. When serving others, you want to always put forward your best effort. Don’t give any half-hearted service or sub-par performance. Do your best and work the hardest as if it was a race and that you want to come in first place.
Being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus. – Philippians 1:6
Allow this verse to be buried in your heart. God is faithful to finish anything that He started in you. Submit to his will and allow him to lead you.
Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. – Ephesians 6:10
The verses after this one go on to talk about the full armor of Christ and spiritual warfare. If you have been praying for a long time, just know that your strength to continue comes from God.
Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving. – Colossians 3:23-24
Most of us have jobs and bosses that we have to report to. What this verse is saying is that you should work as if your boss is Jesus. Don’t cut corners, or perform poorly because they are not watching, but know that as a follower of Christ you are reflecting his image and representing him to your coworkers. Let them see your excellent work ethic.
Blessed is the man who remains steadfast under trial, for when he has stood the test he will receive the crown of life, which God has promised to those who love him. – James 1:12
Trials will come throughout your life, its how you perform during those trials that determine your character. Sometimes these trials come as a result of our disobedience, other times God allows us to be tested so that our character be developed. I also remember 1 Corinthians 10:13 which says that God will not allow you to be tested more than you can bear. Just know that the trials will not break you but make you stronger.
I can do all this through him who gives me strength. – Philippians 4:13
God will strengthen you to do his will. Our job is to seek him and be in line with his will for our lives. Once we are in the correct position then we will see Gods strength come on us to accomplish His purposes. Get in line with God first and do not give up.
Therefore, my dear brothers and sisters, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain. – 1 Corinthians 15:58
It takes a lot of mental discipline to continue to be steadfast in the middle of trials or troubles. This is something that is developed over time. This verse is an encouragement for you not to give up during those times, because through it, it is building your character. To help keep you through these challenging times, God reminds us that our work is not in vain. God is watching and will respond appropriately.
