Who told you that you shouldn’t be successful in all your business dealings? The truth of the matter is that there is more scriptures telling you to go out and be successful in business then there is telling you not to. Over the course of time a lie has seeped into the lives of many Christians saying ‘that they shouldn’t have money, businesses or real-estate.’ This is a lie from the pit of hell. I’m going to outline some verses from the bible and show you how they apply to your wealth, success in business and accumulation of land. I hope that you get encouraged as a result.
Jeremiah 29:11 (NIV)
For I know the plans I have for you, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.
– God knows exactly why he put you on this earth. What this scripture is telling us is that God doesn’t want to harm or punish us for sin but He wants to plant and establish us with good things in our lives so that we will have a bright future.
Psalms 37:4 (NIV)
Take delight in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart.
– God has placed some passions in our hearts for certain things. What this verse is saying is there are good things in this world (things that we desire to have or do that are not sinful) that God would love to have us accomplish or achieve.
Psalms 2:8 (NIV)
Ask me, and I will make the nations your inheritance, the ends of the earth your possession.
– This verse is saying that there is land for us Christian that God would love for us to take possession of. Our responsibility is to want what God wants for us and to engage him is that pursuit.
Jeremiah 32:40-41 (NIV)
I will make an everlasting covenant with them: I will never stop doing good to them, and I will inspire them to fear me, so that they will never turn away from me. I will rejoice in doing them good and will assuredly plant them in this land with all my heart and soul.
– These verses really capture the heard of God and how much he would want to do good for us. The issue is us. We allow sin to creep in and cut off the flow of his blessings.
As I said before, this is just a few verses. I will put some other verses at the end of this post so that you can meditate on them for yourself.
After reading through all these verses, I can say with confidence that God wants you to succeed in whatever you put your hands to do. So what is keeping you from doing more you say? In my opinion… laziness.
Sometimes people are too lazy to put in the work that needs to be done to become successful. First of all, sometimes Christians are too lazy to study and research the scriptures to learn what they have a God given right to have. Because they don’t know what God says about a particular topic then they don’t even know that they can have it. The bible says that ‘My people perish for lack of knowledge’ (Hosea 4:6) and this is the worst type of ignorance because the bible is so easily accessible. Most people have at least 2 hard copies of it. They may have the bible app on their smart phone (Not to mention Google at their fingertips) and still don’t take the time to daily read and meditate on what God says. Secondly, people are to lazy to get out of their comfort zone and put in some work to accomplish anything. If you want to buy a house, you will have to discipline yourself to get out of debt, and save money for a down payment. Most times that calls for sacrifice of certain enjoyable things (like that Starbucks coffee). Its hard work to leave your comfort zone and go after any worthy goal. It’s totally worth it though! If you are not confident enough to step out, I would suggest a book. The Dream giver By Brice Wilkerson. (One of my favourites)
Don’t look at the end goal and think that task is too big. Plan your end goal and look at the small step that you have to accomplish today. Before you know it, you will have your house, successful business, and money that you can pass on to your children and grandchildren. It starts with the first step. Go and make something great happen today!!
