It’s better to really be something then show off like you are but you’re really not. It really grinds my gears when I see people with expensive cars, designer clothes, expensive jewelry and acting like they are successful and have money but when trouble hits and they are in need of money their bank account there is so much red that you think it’s Valentine’s Day. People could have the nicest of everything and be living in poverty. In my opinion living in poverty is when you have to pay out more money at the end of the month then you are bringing in at the end of the month. So if we look at your personal finances as a balance sheet we’ll see that the liabilities are greater than the assets.
Put Yourself in a Good Financial Position
I rather put myself comfortable position and have some savings in my bank account that I can draw upon if needed for emergencies then to spend all my money paying off debts on cars, credit cards or any other things that I may have purchased to show off or to portray the image of being successful. If I’m living in government housing where my rent is fixed then I have no business trying to purchase a BMW or Mercedes. The fact of the matter is this, it doesn’t matter what people think about you. If you live your life trying to live up to peoples expectation or portray an image of success then you’ll always be living to please someone else and not yourself and definitely not living to please God.
Be Wise with your Money
You need to do what’s best for you so that you know how to manage your money. This way you can start build real wealth in our lives for families. Stop being a slave to other people’s opinion and be wise with your money.
If people are going to talk about you then they’re going to talk about you. Their opinion isn’t really that important and if it was it wouldn’t matter what you have. I sure hope people are not getting all of these luxury items on credit. If so, the only people who win are the lenders and the banks. At the end of the term think about all of the interest that you paid to drive that new BMW you could have bought two. And by the time it’s paid off you probably don’t even like it anymore.
Don’t Keep Up with the Joneses
Don’t try so hard to keep up with the Joneses. Anyways you don’t even know how the Joneses are doing financially. If there able to afford all their shiny new toys or if they financed it all and all of their pay cheque at the end of the month goes towards payments. In my opinion, if you can put money away in a savings account at the end of the month then your doing okay. You should be able to break even and put something away for safe keeping. Look at Warren Buffet. He is one of the wealthiest men in the world bit he still lives in his house that he purchased in 1958 for $31,500. There really is no need to upgrade unless it is necessary.
The most important thing is that you’re happy. Do what makes you happy. Enjoy life to the fullest… Just don’t go broke doing it.
